Lessons available.
We organise an exciting programme of special events at Sway Manor throughout the year. Below is a list of our forthcoming events for January to December 2008.
Don't forget that if you are attending a Special Event if you make a night of it then you can take advantage of our reduced overnight accommodation packages. Please call for details.
In 2008 we launch our regular Jazz series of events – 1st Sunday Jazz – which jazz fans can book on a regular basis, it’s always the first Sunday of the month (excludes Mothers Day this year). The cost of £19.50 includes a 2 course dinner with coffee.

Come and groove the night away whilst supporting the Sway Village Hall, which is the hub of many local groups, tremendously important to our local community and is urgently in need of repair.

ART DAYS – ‘Lines in an urban setting’ £140.00 Two-day event
It is a natural environment for many people, but often not closely observed. Look around you and make sketches of your local area before spending 2 days creating your compositions. Using watercolors, acrylics or even collage make use of the patterns, shapes and textures that surround us in an urban setting. Not only the structure of buildings, but also road signs, yellow lines, overhead wires, scaffolding.
Each day Includes morning coffee, 2-Course Lunch, Afternoon Tea, tuition, some materials and hand-outs. Suitable for all levels of experience and any media is welcome.

Fabienne Borget has sung most of the lead roles in Puccini's operas including Liu Turandot, Musetta La Bohème, Lauretta Gianni Schicchi and Cio Cio San, in Madam Butterfly.
Darren Fox has played most of the male roles including: Tamino Die Zauberflöte ,Ferrando Così fan tutte, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni , Conte Almaviva, Il barbiere di Siviglia ,Rodolfo La Bohème, Jaquino Fidelio, Des Grieux Manon, Pong Turandot , Ramiro La Cenerentola, Don José Carmen. Don José Carmen, Ferrando Così fan tutte , Beppe/Harlequin I Pagliacci
Lynda Ang – internationally renowned accompanist and prize-winning, touring concert pianist.

Charity Fun Dog Show
Register by post, at reception (£1.50) or on the day from 11am (£2). Incredibly popular event – lots of fun classes and some more pedigree. Great for people who don’t do dog shows! Beautiful rosettes to 6 places with generous first prizes donated by local community and businesses.
Doggy displays, jumping, tricks etc with Hampshire Harriers.
Loads of stalls, BBQ, Cream Teas, bar etc
Great fun way to raise money for The Labrador Rescue Trust.

Victorian Brass is a virtuoso classical brass ensemble within Bournemouth Concert Brass. ART DAYS – ‘Drawn from the Sea’ £70.00
Anything nautical is the theme , from bright buoys to fishing boats, from sailing dinghies to flotsam and jetsam. In preparation for the day go out and draw any coastal scene or object that inspires or excites you. Bring these drawings with you to create textural paintings using mixed media, including collage, watercolor, acrylics and pastels. Jane will show how to create different effects and help you achieve the best from your original drawings.
Includes morning coffee, 2-Course Lunch, Afternoon Tea, tuition, some materials and hand-outs. Suitable for all levels of experience and any media is welcome.

ART DAYS – ‘Loosen up your painting!’ £70.00
Make use of architectural shapes and decoration as the starting point for your watercolor of acrylic paintings. Dig out those holiday photos of interesting buildings and turn them into something special. Bring only black & white photocopies so you can abandon realism, in favour of colours that excite, to produce lively scenes from static objects.
The day will start with some drawing, planning and preparation. Don't panic! This will free you up for later. Jane will demonstrate different approaches to the subject, followed by plenty of painting time. Inks, pencils, oil pastels and crayons may also be included in your paintings. be prepared to work on more than on at once.

Some funny things involving holly and hair remover had been happening at the Christmas Panto. The producer, Ivor Biggen, had called for an extra rehearsal but was found dead just before it started. Join the amateur dramatics and help the cast to ‘Catch the Killer’.

During the Christmas pantomime ‘Cinderella’ our hero Buttons attempts to catch a speeding bullet. Sadly all did not go according to plan and the bullet kept going.
